Sandra Clark’s (very entertaining) political predictions for 2008

Among the most interesting:

For political junkies, 2008 will be simply the most delicious year! For those who make political predictions, it’s a minefield…

Local: Knox County’s biggest political question: Will Mike Ragsdale survive in office until 2010? Our guess: No.

State: Will Bill Haslam run for governor? Our guess: Yes, unless Bill Frist jumps in.

Other random guesses

Sheriff: Jimmy “J.J.” Jones will overcome his crazy name and previous betrayal of Tim Hutchison to top Randy Tyree in August. In an election where voters want a fresh face, the Democrats offer up Randy. Go figure.

And in the same issue of the Halls Shopper, Betty Bean offers her pick for person of the year, and it isn’t someone you likely would have predicted:

He is Ronnie Collins, president of the Alice Bell Spring Hill Neighborhood Association, a group that raised plenty of eyebrows this fall for giving back a $300 grant that a County Commission appointee threw their way just before he was ousted from office by Chancellor Daryl Fansler.

But nobody who knows ABSHNA or Ronnie Collins was surprised that they refused Chuck Bolus’s money (which, of course was really the taxpayers’ dough).
