Do you think Fred wishes he’d stayed out?
If Fred Thompson hadn’t jumped into the race, he would have lived out the rest of his days as a universally beloved GOP lion, the guy who could have been president if only he’d deigned to make a run.
Instead, there’s increasing pressure on him to “do the right thing” and jump back out:
What do you think? Should Fred stay in and see how the race shakes out or should he take the opportunity now to play powerbroker while there is still power to be brokered? Or should he stay in to act as McCain’s tag team partner in debates?
Mitt Romney has money and organization. Huckabee has the buzz and Rudy Giulani is still sitting out there with good poll numbers in some the later states. If Fred has a problem with one or all of these candidates (as one suspects he does) should he not swallow some pride and take a bullet for McCain or is it too soon?
