Finch excludes WBIR journalist

The meeting Cynthia Finch had yesterday with Knox County Commissioners has been widely reported, but you might have missed this small tidbit: after the official meeting, she met with members of the press to talk further. All the major local media outlets were there, but she told WBIR’s backpack journalist (that’s new media speak for a reporter/photographer ) that he had to leave. She didn’t just refuse to answer his questions, she literally told him he had to leave the meeting.
Finch refused to answer questions from 10News several times Wednesday.
She did meet with several other media organizations after speaking with commissioners, but she asked the photographer from 10News to leave that meeting.
(Mike) Arms said the mayor did not condone Finch excluding 10News from the meeting.
He said his office intends to be open to all media organizations.
