I love the fun writing in Josh Flory’s very informative KNS piece today about development trends in the two cities.
Circle the wagons, Knoxville - the Chattanoogans are gaining!
When it comes to East Tennessee supremacy, there’s little doubt that Knoxville outshines its neighbor to the south, and arguments to the contrary can be refuted in a single word: Sunsphere.
…the new numbers put Chattanooga within striking distance of Knoxville - whose 2006 population was pegged at 182,337 - and revealing his “life goal” for Chattanooga to become the third-largest city in the state.
Was it a case of unwarranted hubris, or is Knoxville demographically destined to lose its place in the Tennessee trifecta?
