Nashvillians are grappling with the same issues Knoxville downtowners struggle with every day, and are debating an aggressive panhandling ordinance.

Wow. That’s the first I’ve read/heard of panhandlers hitting up homeowners for money by knocking on their doors. Fingers crossed that doesn’t extend to my neighborhood someday and that it ends soon in the ones where it does.
we have had some problems with this in our neighborhood. first of all I usually answer to their sob story with the info that I would be happy to call our local policeman that lives in the neighborhood and maybe the cop can give them a ride somewhere. I say it in a respectful yet naive way. happy to report this tactic usually works.
