Feeling abused by Fred Thompson

One local Fred Thompson supporter is not a happy camper today:

I’ve been a Fred supporter for a very long time. I was so excited when he announced that he was throwing his hat into the presidential race. I blogged about it, I devoted precious space for Fred news on my main website, I wrote letters, I sent emails, and I donated both time and money to the republican cause. Little did I know that his hat would only be tossed as far as behind the seat of his red pickup.

I sit here today feeling let down and disgusted. I feel used and abused by someone that apparently never even intended on trying to win. In order to become an American President, you must play the game of politics. That’s just the way it is, plain and simple. Always has been, always will be. You aren’t going win by sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else play.

I’m not suggesting that holding the office of president is a divine calling, but let me speak of it on terms that I am familiar with. I compare the presidential race to soul winning. You can’t just sit on a church pew holding your Bible in your hands, hoping that a lost person will walk down the isle and accept Christ. No, you must go out in the highways and hedges, beat the bushes, spread the Word, tell folks about the love of Jesus, and show them the road to Salvation. I’m afraid that all Fred did was announce his calling, yet never opened his Bible to expound the Word.

It has really put a bad taste in my mouth for politics.
