At this point in the evening, it looks like Amy Broyles will defeat Cortney Piper, her opponent in the Commission 2-B Democratic primary, by a handy margin.
I suspect Piper’s decision to send out an exceptionally negative mailing targeting Broyles did Piper’s campaign a good bit of harm.
What are your thoughts?
Bad Behavior has blocked 740 access attempts in the last 7 days.
Katie, it had a lot more to do with Amy’s positive and substantive campaign than Cortney’s unfortunate mailpiece. Amy won decisively with over a 20 percent margin.
Look at Cortney’s other (positive) mail pieces. “A Fresh Face…” but there was no substance. In Amy’s fliers, however, she listed accomplishments, service, and a consistent record of working in her community.
Credit the win properly to Amy. She earned it.
Amy Broyles had a decisive win in every single ward in her district. She won because she worked hard and she had a great platform. The negative flyer sent by Piper just showed the voters that Piper was inexperienced and not ready for the job. It may have pushed a few undecided voters toward Amy, but it was not the sole reason for her win.
