WBIR’s Brittany Bailey spoke with Greg Mackay at around 5:00 pm:

According to Elections Administrator Greg Mackay, Knox County voters are on track to set a record today.

More than 36,000 people have already cast their ballots during Early Voting, and Mackay says he expects between 30-35,000 more Knox Countians to vote today.

A total vote count of approximately 70,000 will more than double the number of votes cast in the election four years ago.

Before today, the record high number of votes cast in a Knox County election was 55,000, in 1988.
