Hillary Clinton: damned if she is, damned if she isn’t

When I see stuff like this, it makes me realize that Hillary Clinton (and perhaps any woman in politics) is damned if she is “too feminine,” but also damned if she “isn’t woman enough.”

Not true. Condi Rice is just as strong minded, forceful, and occasionally abrasive as Hillary, yet she enjoys widespread support among conservatives. Elizabeth Dole is as strong in a different, more genteel manner, and she has wide spread support as well. The problem for Hillary is that she refuses to be herself, and plays to whatever crowd she is courting at the time. As the piece by Sharon Cobb that you linked to above says, Hillary re-invents herself each time her campaign hits a snag. What I have a problem with is not her femininity or lack thereof; it’s the way she tries to manipulate people by playing roles.

Hillary should concentrate on being herself, not playing to the crowd.

Incidentally, a few women who did fine in politics despite their femininity or lack thereof; Margaret Thatcher. Golda Meier. Indira Gandhi.

There are several women I would support for President; Hillary isn’t one of them. Not because of her gender, but because of what she’s said, what she’s done, and what she says she’s going to do.

Me thinks the little lady does protest too hard. Biased much, sugar?

Biased? Me? Never! But I do respect Katie and and wanted to make sure she understood where I was coming from with my little joke. Sometimes things get lost in the pixels don’tcha know.
