Way better than a van down by the river

I love this!

Apparently Knoxville state Rep. Harry Brooks and his wife live rather modestly when the legislature is in session and they are in Nashville:

An RV is where Brooks and his wife, Mary, spend their time in Nashville…. “It’s our home away from home and it has been for, you know, a long time,” says Brooks.

Most lawmakers from across the state stay in hotels. Harry Brooks tried that, and it wasn’t for him.

“We decided after hotel and moteling it for about a month, we said that’s crazy, we just brought our motor home down and lived in it from that point forward,” says Brooks.

So for the past six years Brooks has split his time between Capitol Hill and a local campground.

Rep. Brooks has often had other lawmakers out here to the RV, and some of them have admitted he’s got it pretty good.

“And they like coming here, they like a change from the hotel/motel food,” says Brooks.

“We’ll grill hamburgers, or sometimes I’ll make a pot of sour or a pot of chili, and something like that and he invites them to come over as well. It’s fun, it’s a relaxing time for us as well as for them,” says Mary Brooks.

The Brooks family are good people. Honest, hardworking, church going, loyal to the community folks. Mr. Brooks is real focused on the concerns of citizens in his district and always keeps us updated with what is going on in the TN legislature. You can see their big ol’ motor home parked out in front of their house on Washington Pike when the legislature isn’t in session. And, no, I don’t work for the Harry Brooks campaign! Just saw an opportunity to boast about my Representative!
