Knoxville, Oak Ridge….it’s all the same, right?
Knoxville apparently made an MSNBC list of super cheap places to rent, but as Byron Chesney points out, they got some stuff wrong:
From the article:
4. Knoxville, Tenn.
Here you get a one bedroom hidden in the woods that comes with a balcony, a nearby pool, a tennis court and playground for $560 a month.
Some fun facts about Knoxville:
It’s home to Davy Crockett’s famous rifle, Old Betsy.
Boaters love Knoxville. A boater can set sail from Knoxville and travel more than six hundred miles down to the Ohio River. All counted, that’s more than one thousand miles of uninterrupted travel on smooth waters through several different states. -Source MSNBC.comThat’s all well and good, however, the example that they provided is actually some property in Oak Ridge. It is at Tara Hills Apartments at 101 Elmhurst Dr, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Sure, it’s on the outskirts of Knoxville but not in Knoxville. I guess the folks at MSNBC don’t know that there is a HUGE difference between Knoxville and Oak Ridge. They also laughingly state that it is a “one bedroom hidden in the woods.” Woods??? Please, it just looks like a few trees to me. If they want to actually see woods, they need to come over to my house at the base of House Mountain. We actually have woods out here.
The article also states that Knoxville is the home to Davy Crockett’s famous rifle, “Old Betsy.” This is not true either. “Old Betsy” resides in the Alamo Chapel in San Antonio, TX. His first rifle before “Old Betsy,” is in Knoxville’s East TN History Center, along with one of his other rifles, “Pretty Betsy.”
