Always wanted to run your own dog spa? Well now’s your chance!

Maryland-based Dogtopia, a dog daycare and boarding facility, is seeking a franchisee for a new West Knoxville location.

The company has already signed a lease on a 5,000-square-foot building at 9715 Kingston Pike, near Pellissippi Parkway. President and CEO Amy Nichols said Knoxville is an attractive site because of the demographics.

Thirty percent of the population own a dog while average trips to the vet last year was 5.4, she said.

“They clearly care about their pets,” Nichols said.

The site, which Nichols hopes to have opened by May, will offer three large, climate-controlled playrooms with padded flooring. Playrooms are separated according to your dog’s size, play-style and temperament.
