News writing that keeps ‘em coming back?

Posted By katie allison granju

There’s a story developing out of Bristol, Tennessee involving a shooting that may have killed several people.

I found the last line of the story from the Tricities.com/Bristol Herald Journal sort of unusual for a newspaper:

Find out how many victims there are and whether a suspect has been arrested in Thursday’s Bristol Herald Courier.

It seems a bit tacky for a tease, but it’s also odd for a newspaper to be covering a breaking story online, but then tell readers of their online portal that in order to get the whole story, they will need to pick up the hard-copy version, on the newsstand…tomorrow.

That is pretty bad for a tease. WBIR is guilty of the evening tease, but not regarding such a serious story.
