Campaign strategery for Bob Tuke
Terry Frank offers the newly-announced Democratic candidate for Senate some free campaign advice:
Can Tuke defeat Lamar? Hmmmm….I don’t think it’s impossible. But I don’t think it’s going to happen by trying to run into the fields left of Lamar with campaign prose about the “cold wind of hunger and poverty” whistling through “open doors of despair.” And how much do lawyers bill for an hour of service?
There’s plenty of room for a Democrat to run a bit to the right of Lamar on several issues while still holding onto the Democrat mantle. I’m talking about issues like immigration, PC hate-speech stuff, big government, earmarks, globalism, etc. Tuke could actually pick up some votes from disheartened Republicans who are sick of the slide leftward.
But looking at Tuke’s strategy, it looks like his role will be more geared towards amping up the doom and gloom message of the Dems: the Chicken-Little, God save us from the Republicans strategy. In this way, he will serve as the flower girl spreading liberal petals for the message of the Big Government Democrat Presidential Bride (and Tuke’s pulling for the Entitlement Messiah himself: Barack Obama.)
Will the strategy that Lamar is too right wing really pay off? I don’t think so. Not when there are so many Republicans out there like myself grumbling about his move left. And not when there are so many Democrats signing on with Lamar!
