“Losing Hastert’s seat like toppling of Saddam statue”

The blogteam over at the TNDP is feeling confident:

If “losing Hastert’s seat is like the toppling of the Saddam statue in Baghdad,” then it looks like the win for newcomer Democrat Bill Foster to Illinois’ 4th congressional district is the heroes’ welcome for Democrats looking to change current management of important issues– the war in Iraq, the economy, and congressional ethics among many other things.

While a DNC spokesperson notes that one district does not indicate a national trend, the win in former House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s district is a sign that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is well funded and fully prepared to challenge Republicans this season.
