More crazy talk from Obama’s pastor
Sean Braisted lays on a bit o’ the snark today as he points to some of the less-publicized quotes attributed to Jeremiah Wright:
The LA Times points to some more dangerous and fiery rhetoric from Jeremiah Wright.
Declaring that blacks have forgotten God and fallen into promiscuity, he urged: “Don’t give up on God! . . . Don’t give up on the process of marriage!”
Oh, and this from a 2003 article:
“We live in a day in age where we have become accustomed to user-friendly commodities, including Christianity,” Wright said. “We look for a stress-free religion, with twice the sin but half the guilt.”
The Reverend said many people look for a religion that will meet their needs, make them happy, and possibly make them rich. He suggested that these people buy into the Burger King theology of a “have it your way” religion.
And this quote, which indicates that Wright felt his words were more important than God’s:
“Some pastors think they are the shepherds,” he said. “But God does that. God is the one in charge.” He said the important thing is that people find a place where they can belong.
