I don’t get it

Check out this new haircut place in town called “Gentleman’s Top Cuts.” Their schtick is that the haircuts are provided by attractive young women dressed in skimpy lingerie.

Get it? Top cuts? Hair cuts? Cuts of meat, as in, this is a meat market? How clever!!

This sounds incredibly lame to me. What sort of guy is going to actually pay to have his hair cut at this place? I suspect Gentleman’s Top Cuts’ clientele will end up consisting largely of men who spend much of their time playing video games in the basement apartments they share with their cats, located underneath their moms’ houses - guys whose actual dating/love lives are so sad that it actually gives them a thrill to have their split ends lopped off by a stranger in a bikini.

Am I wrong here? If you are a woman, would you care and/or find it quite pathetic if the man in your life got his hair cut here? And if you are a man, would you go here? More tellingly, would you actually admit to patronizing this place?

From the looks of their website the Vice Squad at KPD ought to take notice. Looks like haircuts are going to be secondary to the primary source of income for the “girls.”

I happen to know one of the owners and his wife. Up until recently she was on staff at a local church. He (and his wife) own another hair salon in town that caters to a specific clientelle as well…..children. Given that some of their employees are obviously barely out of high school, it makes me wonder if he’s going to be scouting for potential employees for Top Cuts a few years from now from kids that have come through the other salon. If that place is his idea of classy, I’d hate to see his version of trashy!!!

By the way, my husband said he wouldn’t get his hair cut there if it were free!

I’ve been asking the guys at the shop where I work what they think of GTC. Humorous jokes & banter aside, the consenses (sp? lol) seems to be that most feel that these owners and ladies are inviting alot of trouble. The guys say that they would have ‘expectations’ given the naming & especially the pricing of their services menu. I don’t get it.. *Why* would these ladies/girls work for a few dollars on the hour + tips when they could be making bank at the local strip clubs?!

Sounds like we’ve got a bunch of jealous and/or uptight folks out there.

    Geez, lighten up.

Oh no, no, no anonymouse.. what we have here are owners Big Pimpin’. They are pimps in every sense of the word. Girls, girls, girls.. Vannah give them a clue! **WHY** work for chump change?! How much are they paying on the hour anyway… $7. - $9.00 an hour.. maybe?? Benefits???? LMAO.. Hair Pimps, PUHLEEEEEEZE!!!!

Girls, insist on being an independent contractor & agree only to paying a flat ‘bar fee’ a/k/a “booth rental”.. you’ll only hate yourselves otherwise! Line Slick & Sly’s pockets with your hard earned dollars?? Hell No!!!! RENEGOTIATE… BEFORE THEY OPEN THE DOORS!!!! Don’t do another thing in the way of promoting them until you have a nice little contract all spelled out on paper.

I’m a cosetology student and just recently heard about GTC. I think that it’s horrible that these ladies need to lower themselves to this level in order to work as a stylist. It took so long and alot of work to get away from the old hairdresser / stylist sterotype, and now you have this place ruining it for the younger generation coming into the industry. I want to be known for my “SKILLZ” as a stylist not by the number of men that think I look better than I cut!!!! Hopefully State Board will kill the shop before long….

When I first heard about this place I was very interested. Hearing the name “Gentleman’s Top Cuts” sounded like just the right place I was looking for to get my hair cut.

The name is very misleading. Any man who is attracted to that kind of atmosphere is certainly not a gentleman.

Wondering where the GTC gurls are? What… all the clammoring for attention has suddenly… stopped?! No more cheesy YouTube videos in scantily clad clothes? Why, their website even, which once looked more like an amature soft-core porn site ad is now, still amature at best but.. plain ol, plain! Seems the girls faces have even disappeared from the GTC myspace page. Interesting… So, how are things going @ GTC these days, eh?

Only someone who cant cut a decent haircut would pull a stunt like this. My husband has been cutting hair for 31yrs. His ability stands up for itself. Hes a master barber and has his own shop here in Crossville.
