The ultimate journalist
We’ve been hearing a lot about how today’s journalist has to be a real multi-tasker, with a plethora of skills, and a willingness to be flexible.
But DANG, when I read this job description from the Associated Press, looking for a new Nashville-based employee, I had to wonder whether ANYONE is this multitalented.
(I think my favorite part is where they say the applicant apparently needs to be conversant with both Conway Twitty’s ouevre, as well as what’s going on at the United Nations…)
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate will have solid experience in all aspects of broadcasting. Applicants should have demonstrated skills in digitally editing sound and broadcast copy, writing broadcast copy, voicing reports, doing live air work and doing street reporting. He or she should have professional voice and air delivery, combining authoritative sound with a conversational tone. Applicants should have solid knowledge of the country music industry as well as domestic and world affairs. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of online news. He or she must be able to meet tight deadlines and react quickly to breaking news. Applicants must be able to work all shifts, including overnights, and all days of the week, including weekends. Some travel is involved.
