Liberal indoctrination gone awry

Posted By katie allison granju

There’s a fun story in the KNS today about local teens who are actively engaged in politics. One anecdote from the piece amused me:

Josh Wood, 19, is a University of Tennessee student and interns at Sen. Bob Corker’s Knoxville office. He says that, although he was involved in the Student Government Association in high school, he truly formed his political opinions in college when he found himself disagreeing with a liberal political science professor.

So you see, all you conservatives, as it turns out, those “liberal professors” you are always so worried about actually help your cause.

  1. Dave said,

I minored in PoliSci @ UTK in the 80s and 90s. Not a single teacher I had in that department would have been considered “conservative”. I asked each of them point blank if they believed government had better solutions than the free market, and each answered resoundingly, “yes”. I say that because, if the university is supposed to be have such diversity, why is it that it really doesn’t?

I like taking classes from professors who believe in collectivism, and market restrictions, and punitive taxation, etc. because that gives me the oportunity to discuss those positions on their merit. The only problem I have is that I would have liked to have seen the conservative perspective taught as well.
