Candace Parker: Here comes the $$$
She’s got new deals with Gatorade and Adidas.
Although terms of the multiyear deals were not revealed, they should put her in the $3-4 million range combined, according to industry analysts.
Parker was the first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA draft this month by the Los Angeles Sparks, having completed her college career with back-to-back national championships at the University of Tennessee.
Parker is handled by Eric Goodwin and Aaron Goodwin of Goodwin Sports Management, Seattle.
Adidas is expected to align her in marketing with their NBA roster of stars, which includes Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard, Gilbert Arenas and Chauncey Billips. She also could get her own signature shoe and become the face of adidas’ sportswear and accessories targeting women.
Gatorade is planning to feature her alongside other top athletes on its roster. A TV spot could break to coincide with the start of the WNBA season in May. “Our decision to include Candace among the select group of world class Gatorade athletes was an easy one and we are extremely excited, as is much of the country, to witness Candace’s professional debut,” Scott Paddock, director of sports marketing at Gatorade, Chicago, said in a statement.
