Some things just can’t wait

Hmmmm….clearly this is a serious medical issue with which many Tennesseans contend on a daily basis, but is forcing private businesses to offer restroom facilities the answer?

The Tennessee Restroom Access Act will allow people with “a medical condition that requires immediate access to a restroom” to use a business’ private restroom, as long as that business employs three or more people.

“You can feel fine one minute, and the next minute you have to go to the bathroom, and there’s very little control,” said Storm, who has Crohn’s disease.

“If you are told the restroom is for employees only, there may be no time to get to another one.”

State Sen. Doug Jackson, D-Dickson, who co-sponsored the bill, said all this population has to do is show an employee a note from their doctor or an identification card from the Tennessee chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

As embarassing as this is, I don’t have the disease (that I know of) but was apalled that there is no restroom at the MAIN POST OFFICE. It’s a government building! I had to wait in line to ask. Be answered rudely. Then find out the answer and determine if I had enough time to do my post office business. I ended up having to leave, go to Weigel’s, then come back to buy my stamps and mail my packages. It was a miserable experience, and you know what, I can’t even take my post office business elsewhere.
