Tim Hutchison - returning to a ballot box near you?
Sandra Clark has the scoop in a new interview ith Knox County’s enigmatic former top cop:
Tim Hutchison has the remedy for what ails us.
“Term-limit the editorial staff of the News Sentinel. Eight years and gone!” He leans back with a faint grin.
The former sheriff is building houses in South Carolina, enjoying his three grandchildren and [...]
Knox County time machine
Larry Van Guilder is so much older than he’s younger than that now…or something like that.
He’s predicting looking back at Knox County - from the future.
Analysts have since noted reasonable steps were available as early as 2002 to avert catastrophe. These included scaling back “legacy projects,” a favorite of the scandal-ridden Ragsdale administration; slashing the [...]
Please, for the love of God, no more “Arms of the Angels”
Josh West is over that ASPCA commercial that runs every 90 seconds.
This song was overplayed in it’s time and apparently the good folks at the ASPCA feel the need to make sure this dead horse gets a few more beatings (now, THAT’s animal abuse). Plus, if McLachlan worked as hard at writing new material [...]

Is hypermiling dangerous?
Blogger Rob Lloyd says hypermilers remind him of…his grandmother:
As the price of gas goes up, so does the number of strategies for alleviating pain at the pump. Some drivers are push-starting their cars, forking out for expensive additives, and drafting behind tractor-trailors. But one of the most talked about ways is Hypermiling.
Basically, [...]
Knoxville Talks question of the day
Let me preface this question by saying that as a Knoxville resident and voter, I have found Mayor Bill Haslam (and his administration, particularly Bill Lyons) to be energetic and full of good ideas that are paying off for Knoxville. That doesn’t mean I am in agreement with the administration all the time, but let’s [...]

Apparently, I am a K-town neighborhood outlier
So I tried this neat-o new “neighborhood matchmaker” over at Suzy Trotta’s blog, and entered all my info.
I eagerly awaited my results, but was baffled to learn that “no neighborhood in Knoxville, TN currently fits your criteria.”
Good thing I already like where I live.
Give it a try yourself, and share your results in the [...]
Downtown-North has it!
Or at least, wants to get it…
And a new group is forming to help in the exciting revitalization happening in this “next frontier” of Downtown’s rennaissance. Here’s the scoop:
The Downtown North Assoc is a fledgling organization forming to
promote the area - culturally, residentially and commercially. All
interested persons are invited. If you wish to join the [...]

Knoxvillians apparently send a whole lot of text messages
According to Verizon, Knoxville ranks right up near the top in how many text messages are sent.
But of course, I could have told them that. I live with a middle schooler and a teenager, both of whom likely rank among the state’s top texters….

Belated weekly cuteness photoblogging
Since I wasn’t here yesterday, we are a day late with the weekly cuteness photoblogging.
This one is of my 10-year-old son, getting ready to go out and do battle with the kudzu forest behind our property. Ah summertime! As you can see, he has dressed accordingly, and has all the necessary tools.
I WANT TO FEATURE [...]
