IMO, because with few exceptions the MSM has lagged this story from the start. Coming in strong now, the print media (OK, the KNS) will look as if they're following in the footsteps of their little brother weeklies, the Shopper-News and the Metro Pulse. Another factor has been their obsessive focus on the misdeeds of County Commission to the near exclusion of an honest editorial stance regarding the mayor's office. THe KNS continues to bask in the glory of the sunshine law trial outcome. Meanwhile, Ragsdale & Co. commit crimes (yes, crimes) under their very noses with little or no comment on the part of the editorial staff at the daily paper.

By the large, the television journalists have far putpaced the KNS in covering the corruption in the mayor's office. Kay Watson at Channel 10 is especially to be commended.

Any commissioner who swallows this spin isn't worthy to hold the seat.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a joke. "...there may have been deficiencies in accounting procedures."

Funny, we keep hearing the same excuses and each time there are deficiencies in accounting procedures, policies get violated.

I would like to know how the hospitality fund was reported on tax returns. I would like to know why it was kept at John Werner's house. I would like to know just how naive they think the County Commissioners as well as the taxpayers are.

I like the way they present their case.
First, make it appear as this secret slush/fun fund is somehow sanctioned by tossing out the big three: ORNL, TVA, and UT.

They call this shakedown a sponsorship, yet just about every sponsor ended up getting lucrative contracts with the County.
This certainly violates the County charter and should be grounds for termination.

I hope certain Commissioners aren't surprised this time when Ragsdale is asked to vacate the offices on the 6th floor. If they are, then maybe they are naive. Too naive to serve to citizens.

deficiencies in accounting procedures...this is so pathetic, I can't even get mad.
