Katie,

You're not despicable, IMO. I think you're great, in fact. All the time. Even when I think what you're saying is wrong.

Which this post is. It's way beneath you. Waaay. Not that it matters, but I'm really disappointed that you wrote it.

It won't help to convert anyone to the Obama cause. So it's a failure on a pragmatic level.

Worse, it's personally mean, it's totally irrelevant, or should be, and it's also more of the old politics-of-division-for-no-good-reason bullsh*t that the Obama campaign, of all things, was supposed to be beyond. You're just adding sh*t to the blender here, and takin' off the lid.

Stay above this kind of thing Katie. You shouldn't do this.

s sommer "She is undoubtedly right that she was not welcome or accepted at university. She persevered, anyway."

You mean the same university which lowered its admission standards so she could attend? That university didn't want her there? WTF are you talking about?

"You might do the math and notice they were married no less than 2 years when McCain went to Vietnam. "

Correction -- I did the math and added a typo. This should read:
"...they were married less than 2 years when McCain went to Vietnam."

Oh, and here's some more about the rich white lady that seems to evoke so much classism (they deserve it though, cause they're RICH, ya know) from at least one newspaper writer....

Believe me...........whatever sewer Ms. Granju climbed out of to deliver her missive has plenty of other rats in there as well.

It is important to not let her type of poison go unanswered.

I urge others to fight back.

Ms. Granju is obviously quite stupid.

There are other morally bankrupt people however who are quite astute at posting such trash as we see here today.

Dont let them get away with it.

Hey, Joe Smith!

"All you need to know about the type of vermin supporting Ms. Obama is right there above this post."

What exactly do you "think" you know about ME, "vermin" that I am? You sure do not bother to point it out, because you know exactly NOTHING.

I happen to like John Mc Cain for president more than Obama for president.

I am not wild about John Mc Cain, I liked him better before he decided to cozy up to special interests to get elected.

It is sad that these two are all we have to choose from!

But, as a woman looking at two other women for a public role representing the USA, which was the topic of the post, I do perceive Michelle Obama as having strengths that an appeal that Cindy Mc Cain does not.

Is she perfect? Of course not.

Is she interesting? Yes.

Is she smart? Absolutely.

As an Independent voter, I am able to just look for myself to figure out who I like.. and, why.

Not impressed by much of it this year, but I never am.

People who are capable of getting all riled up and excited about some of our so-called leaders make me shake my head.. Yeah, you know all you need to know about me.

I vote just so I have a right to send letters with my complaints & suggestions to my representatives.

But. I would not mind Michelle as First Lady.

Maybe, you just see what you want & need to see, the way you automatically label me, with no knowledge at all.

If nothing else can convince you that the Obama campaign's internal polling about Michelle is abysmal, then that pathetic "Why Barak Loves Michelle" cover story they talked some magazine into running should spell it out pretty clearly. I pointed it out to my kids in line at the grocery store as a perfect example of Propaganda for Dummies.

Michelle O comes across as negative about everything, not just America. Her facial expressions, her focus in her speeches, her body language just scream, "I am a chronically unhappy person." We all know women who put down their husbands in public and they are not generally happily married (and you sometimes wonder if they ever could be). The fact that she couldn't stop herself from doing just that, even though her husband is actively seeking the most important position of his life, is reflective of her underlying persona. Little though we know if Cindy McCain, she certainly seems supportive of her husband and positive in general.

It is easy to recognize a post that is written by a propagandist. Pretend to be bringing up a real issue then use clever writing to get your digs in. People don't like Michelle because she is a hard working woman? What about her real negatives? The original post is a propaganda piece that might as well have been written by a phantom Obama supporter which gives you one reason not to vote for Obama...they aren't real. And they say the Republicans will play dirty.

She didn't "steal narcotics". She got prescriptions signed by some of the doctors she was working with.

Note that this was after surgery, and getting addicted to prescription pain killers after surgery is a pretty common story.

The Despicable Ms. Katie Allison Granju:

All you need to know about the type of vermin supporting Ms. Obama is right there above this post.

The vileness of Ms. Granju's post says more about her and her lack of basic common decency than anything i could add.

The moral sickness of Ms. Granju is emplematic of the type of attacks one may expect more of in the coming months.

Cindy McCain surely has had issues. She is also brave enough to face them head on. They are issues that have a solution, difficult though they may be.

You Ms. Granju dont have that luxury. Your sickness in in your soul.

Lack of morality and basic human kindness is incurable.

You will go your your grave being the same person you are today.
A disgusting moral wretch.

I like Michelle. I like her sassy attitude & brains, even if I don't like all of her attitudes. She draws on her own life experience for her attitudes. She is smart & she can adapt.
She could be a hell of a role model for a lot of people.

Cindy Mc Cain leaves me cold. Have you listened to her?
She is as out of touch with average America as Michelle may be with average White America.

Cindy Mc Cain grew up with her own form of "affirmative action" and lack of a need to achieve on her own, due to being born into a very wealthy family.

So, we could say that each woman was born into a circumstance that allowed her to "get ahead."

I would say that Michelle had to do a hell of a lot more to make her circumstances "work" for her. How many little black girls from the South side of Chicago, who started out in a one bedroom apartment, using the sitting room as her bedroom, ended up a Harvard educated attorney?

She is undoubtedly right that she was not welcome or accepted at university. She persevered, anyway.

I would much rather have Michelle as a role model for my kids than Cindy Mc Cain.

I don't have to say that Cindy is a bad person to not be particularly impressed by her...

But, we are talking about a position that "could" make a difference in people's lives. I think Michelle is up for that.

Cindy might even be a very nice lady, but she does not come across as inspiring in any way.

Thinking Michelle "runs" Obama is just silly. Thinking she hates America is, too. Recycling advice? Oh, phuleeze.

I don't fear Michelle Obama because she is a smart, attractive, ambitious woman. I hate her because she is a smart, attractive, ambitious black woman.

Or is that what you meant to accuse me of?

How about this: I don't admire MO because, "For the first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country," and "America is a mean country." And, oh, exposing your children to Rev. Wrong every Sunday. And, oh, even when she smiles she looks like she's carrying a huge chip on her shoulder. On the campaign trail she has displayed no redeeming quality except for her ability to speak well to a crowd. Oh, good, we'll have two well-spoken, hollow occupants of the White House.

The odious Michelle Obama is John Mcain's secret weapon.

Once the American electorate focuses on her non stop accusitory whining and the "I smell s**t" scowl on her face that will be that.

Also, just wait till the dregs of the earth such as P. Diddy, Spike Lee and other reprobates like Russel Simmons start accusing average Americans of being racist if they dont vote for Obama.

In addition, when the American electorate realizes that 99% of blacks are voting for Obama. that will send the signal that it perfectly fine to vote for someone based on their skin color.

Americans dont want a president elected based on the color of his skin......white or black.
The racist elements pushing for Obama to be elected will be rejected.

No.......Michelle Obama WONT be lighting the Kwanzaa candles in the East Wing.

Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright wont be sitting on the couch in the Family Quarters.

Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dhorn wont be asked to stand for an ovation at the State of the Union.

Much of the thanks will go to the disgusting behavior and comments of Michelle Obama.

Few will warm to the thought of having an angry horror such as her peering out at them from their TV sets for 8 yrs.

PS:....In her speeches she often refers to "they"...as in "They said it couldnt be done", "They said you cant do that ".

Maybe someone can ask her who the hell is "They"?

I think most of us KNOW the answer to that question. Thats another reason why you wont a racist first lady in the White House anytime soon.

The odious Michelle Obama is John Mcain’s secret weapon.

Once the American electorate focuses on her non stop accusitory whining and the “I smell s**t” scowl on her face that will be that.

Americans dont want a president elected based on the color of his skin……white or black.
The racist elements pushing for Obama to be elected will be rejected.

No…….Michelle Obama WONT be lighting the Kwanzaa candles in the East Wing.

PS:….In her speeches she often refers to “they”…as in “They said it couldnt be done”, “They said you cant do that “.

When it comes to "Raising Arizona," I choose Michelle. Sure, 'Little A' might well be exposed to some cockamamie ideas, but he won't become a drug-addled neurotic - steeped in the dysfunction of emotionally absent parents.

Nice try, Katie, but your hogwash won't wash. You listened when Obama said his hands off his campaigning wife. You attack McCain's wife who hasn't offered her views at all, unlike the obnoxious Michelle. What's up with that, Katie? Start writing obits, you might do a better job at that than political commentary.

From the British tabloid you referenced:

"Friends confirm she [Carol McCain] has remained friends with McCain and backed him in all his campaigns.

"Carol remained resolutely loyal as McCain’s political star rose. She says she agreed to talk to The Mail on Sunday only because she wanted to publicise her support for the man who abandoned her."

[So The Mail demeans Carol McCain her by telling readers they know what she REALLY thinks, and turns what she apparently thought was to be supportive interview for John McCain into an ad hominem on the candidate. (John and Carol were divorced 28 years ago. Were you even alive then?) ]

(Again, repeated in article)
"She says she agreed to talk to The Mail on Sunday only because she wanted to publicise her support for the man who abandoned her."

Right. Is that what she said? "I'd love to talk with you because I want people to know that I support John, who abandoned me." (And my children from my first marriage who he adopted becasue their dad gave up his parental rights [that must be a story there].) ??? I think not.

Help us out here, Ms. Granju. Is that how YOU do journalism? You can't pick up the loaded language in a tabloid hit piece?

"worn and wrinkled..." (at 70 most of us look worn ... wait till you get there...) "faded seaside resort..." Well, I am sure parts of Va Beach are faded ... It *is* sunny there. Carol McCain is too damaged to now where she wants to live.)

And this one I love -- "the old Mercedes that she uses..." Check out the car in the picture. Sure doesn't look like an 80s model to me ... or a 90s even ... I'll take it.

As the commenters have noted, it is *Michelle's behavior and words* many people have problems with. That's not June Cleaver's or Cindy or Carol McCain's fault.

You might want to do some research on how marriages survive long separations or traumas like child death or -- 5 years in a prison camp! You might do the math and notice they were married no less than 2 years when McCain went to Vietnam.

While there are tragedies and poor choices in everyone's life, your take on why Michelle Obama doesn't do it for many of us as First Lady by attacking the McCains (all of them) is really shoddy.

Who's your editor?

I think, as a woman, I resent the idea that I don't like a particular first lady because she is successful. Michelle Obama's success is not what bothers me. Just as Hillary Clinton's success never bothered me either. What bothered me about Hillary Clinton was the way she looked down her noses at those of us who chose NOT to be in the work force but stay home with our kids. I never had any doubts what Michelle Obama believed in, but I don't dislike a women because she believes different then me. My real problem came when I heard her whining and complaining about how hard it is to do anything on $400K a year. My husband and I make ALOT less than that, and we manage. I drive 75 miles round trip to work with the current gas prices, my kids go to camp every summer, they attend a private school, and they have music lessons and sports activities. We also sponsor 2 children through Compassion International. We don't go on fancy vacations, we live in a nice, but modest house, and we don't spend money on a lot of unnecessary things. I was stunned, really, because I could easily live off the money they make and give more than half of it away to charity every year. So I figured either 1) she's blowing smoke out her but trying make people think she has the slightest idea what it is to be working class or 2) her and her husband manage their money poorly.

The truth is, Michelle Obama does not seem like a happy woman. Her husband may think I'm a bitter angry American, but his wife is the very persona of "bitter and angry" and the truth is, I can't figure out why.....

We are "not warming" to Michelle Obama because she's a strong working woman? Yep, that's right.

Most of us have never seen a working woman, except for secretaries, nurses and them cute li'l ol' cocktail waitresses down at the country club.

When Bubba Junior got in some trouble at school, I had to go to one of them "conferences" with his teacher...pure man-hater...glasses, non-Farrah Fawcett haircut, education, the works. She's yapping on about something to do with findin' Bu-Ju's camera in the girl's locker room (the li'l scamp!)and I finally have to put up a hand to shut her up.
"Listen, sweetcakes," I tell her, trying to break the ice, "I'm sure they taught you lots of high falutin stuff at Sarah Lawrence, Steve Lawrence, Lawrence Welk, or what ever the hell school you went to back in Boston, but out here, men do the thinking and child raisin'. You gals should stick to cooking and laundry like my current wife, Betsy Sue".
She gets this ticked off look on her puss like I stepped on her toes. (as if she'd even feel it in those dyke shoes she had on)
I told her we should finish this conversation down at the Haymaker Bar And Grill, God knows this broad needed some loosening up!
She sputters and says "No." She even laughed! So I figured I needed to do my patented Bubba Lloyd Hereford move. I give her a playful slap, not hard, just enough to knock those wire rim glasses off her face. Usually I give them a big juicy kiss while they're too stunned to react. They like it. They get a second slap if they don't. Backhand, with the old class ring. This little minx reaches into her NPR totebag and sprays a full can of pepper spray into my peepers. It was enough to set off the smoke alarm! Before it was over, they had to call out the Haz-Mat squad and I get hauled out in handcuffs! I tell ya, that never would have happened back when Bufford Kowalski was chief of Police. That old Pollack used to take good care of this town. So what if he got caught burning a cross in that collored family's yard...which one of us hasn't done that?

Anyway...back to Michelle Obama...I look at her and I see that teacher. I bet she can't even make a decent pot pie. Just like my fourth wife, she couldn't cook her way out of a paper bag! That was the last time I bought one of those mail order brides.
