Angelina Jolie just gave Knox County’s profile a serious boost

Posted By katie allison granju

One of her newborn twins has been christened “Knox.”

I’ve always thought (and Jack Neely recently told me the same thing) that “Knox” would be a cool name for a K-town baby. Now, following in Brangelina’s baby-naming footsteps, there will certainly be a slew of new baby Knoxes (Knoxi?) all over the globe.

I had a childhood friend in middle Georgia called Knoxy. I wanted to name our first baby that, but husband vetoed it.

Hey, we did it ten years before Angelina.

Jacob Knox Chandler McDaniel, born in 1998 right here in Knoxville, is named for his Sevier County great grandfather, Joseph Knox Andes. The Andes were in Sevier County dating back to the 1700s.

    so there.

She’s in good company. Zachary Taylor’s daughter was named Knox. She sadly died of malaria three months after her marriage to Jefferson Davis.

Ever since AJ went to Iraq to visit the troops and came back saying that things are not as bad as Hollywood and the media have made them out to be, and that Iraq should be given every opportunity to succeeed, I have given her extra slack.

She may hold entirely different views for private consumption, and may have calculated her remarks to appeal to the
non-freakazoid portion of the movie-going public that doesnt think America is one giant war crime in-progress, But she still said what she said, and that took some courage one way of the other.

    Good for her.

Actually, it’s knoces. ;) Assuming knox is declined the same way as pax (it’s a peaceful name, after all), the third declension nominative plural of knox would be knoces. Somehow, I don’t think the plural will see a lot of use… B)

  8. From the sublime to the rediculous, or is it the other way around?

Sorry you guys in Knoxville, but the name Knox comes from a famous British Art Nouveau designer called Archibald Knox. Daddy Brad is a big collector he bought nearly the whole exhibition in New York in 1995. Some of his collection is on our society website at http://www.archibaldknoxsociety.com
