Miracle Mile is Wilshire Blvd in LA. Kingston Pike is, um, Kingston Pike.

Tuscon, AZ has a road that’s actually named Miracle Mile. A wonderfully ironic name since it’s lined with rundown strip malls and 1950’s era motels.

Then again, Tuscon is 90% rundown strip malls and 1950’s motels, so maybe it’s not so ironic.

Here in Texas we say Austin is like Knoxville without the Miracle Mile.

When I was stationed at Langley AFB (1986 - 1988), Mercury Blvd was the “Miracle Mile”. Nothing miraculous included. Just strip malls. That sold stereos.

I have, but it was > 20 years ago. I heard it from someone else who made it sound like everybody else used the phrase. I had forgotten about it until now. I like fighting over an issue like this instead of the other crap on KNS.

And I consider everything left of 17th Street to be West Knoxville.

I’ve always said “the beginning of Kingston Pike where all the churches are,” but I also don’t call everything west of Cumberland “West Knoxville.”

I think she was obviously trying to come up with something cutesy when she didn’t have any idea what she was talking about. I’ve only heard it called “Kingston Pike” or on occasion I’ve heard a few friends shorten it to “KP.”
