Davis concedes

jake -

Saying it’s best for everyone involved, David Davis has opted not to challenge his primary loss to Johnson City Mayor Phil Roe. Release here.
In his release, he decries crossover voting and says, though he feels the law is on his side, that it’s time to move on.

Next up to bat, Mayor Bill Haslam

jake -

Mayor Bill Haslam tossed out the first pitch and took the first at-bat at a game celebrating the senior league today.
After engaging in a small bit of good-natured trash-talk with the pitcher, he hit a foul ball in the dirt on the first pitch. On the second, he made good contact and put it [...]

Florida’s migrating malady

Recount fever grips Tennessee!
Rep. David Davis has hired a lawyer from the 2000 Florida debacle to represent him in his claims of voting irregularities in his defeat at the hands of Johnson City Mayor Phil Roe. There’s been little elaboration so far into what irregularities, exactly.
Davis previously blamed the Democrats for his loss. The irregularity [...]

Fond remembrance as Big Jim returns

jake -

Seeing Jim Bryson’s name back in the news makes me fondly recall his one ad of the gubernatorial campaign, reminiscent of Tim Burton a la “Big Fish.”
‘06 all seems a simpler time now, what with the presidential ads running. Five will get you ten the presidential campaign will offer neither a massive McCain nor a [...]

No prosecutions for Justice hiring

Moreso, Mukasey’s justification for it, as quoted by the AP:
He said “not every wrong, or even every violation of the law, is a crime,” adding that two joint reports found only violations of civil service laws.

(Emphasis added)

Yes, these are my two girls, ages 12 months and almost 13-years-old. Amazingly, this photo was taken with a camera-phone. In the photo, the girls are hanging out on the hammock at our friends T and K’s wonderful lake house in South Knoxville.
