I think The Rep means something different
I’m pretty sure Rep. Campfield isn’t suggesting - with this statement on his blog today - that South Carolinians want to fund child predators : “The porn tax is being tossed around in South Carolina as a way to pay for child predators.”

Stacey Campfield finds it hard to keep up
The Rep says it’s “The Silly Season” for political wannabes:
It is impossible to keep up with all the names and faces who think about a run. I find it interesting when big name stay out of races for fear of failure or other commitments and virtually unknown people fill the gap, work hard and end [...]
Republicans salivating over Rinks “rumor”
Via Stacey Campfield:
Rumor mill - Word on the hill is is that Randy Rinks is going to announce today that he is not going to run for state rep again. Word is he is going to run for sec of state. That district is a Republican leaning area. With the right candidate it could be [...]
Standing up for wrongly accused babydaddies everywhere
Campfield proudly announces that his bill - which he himself dubs the “Not the Baby Daddy Bill” - is back:
I had a bill this last year to make it possible to allow people who find out through DNA testing that they are not the biological parent of a child to stop making future child [...]
Bloggers respond to WKRN’s decision to pull the rug out from under Volunteer Voters
As I noted last night, WKRN in Nashville has apparently decided to let the best political blogger in Tennessee go for budgetary reasons. Now, the state’s bloggers are responding.
Jack Lail
It was very sad to hear of layoff of A.C. Kleinheider, the writer of VolunteerVoters, today by Nashville TV station WKRN.
The media business is a tough [...]
Deep Thoughts….by Stacey Campfield
Remember that long-running SNL bit, “Deep Thoughts…by Jack Handey?”
It offered a unique take on modern culture, with thought-provoking commentary such as this:
Well, sometimes when I read Rep. Stacey Campfield’s blog, I feel like maybe he’s taken up Jack Handey’s noble cause, bringing a new generation of Deep Thoughts to a new generation of Deep Conservative [...]

Rep. Stacey Campfield points to a KNS article as evidence (at least I think this is what he’s saying) that his recent attempt to make a law banning teachers from mentioning homosexuality was needed.
The article is about a parent in Oak Ridge’s complaint that an online encyclopedia called BrainPOP offered to elementary school [...]
A spirited conversation on Campfield’s Big Idea
There’s a heated debate going on right here over the merits of Stacey Campfield’s now-dead legislation that would have prohibited teachers from talking about homosexuality in schools.
Go join the discussion.

Stacey Campfield, William Wilberforce & Inside Tennessee
Rep. Campfield states his case in today’s Knoxville News Sentinel:
Liberals claim respect for the views of others, but I fail to see that materialize for conservative ideas.
A valued friend once told me, “Stacey, good policy is good politics.” I offer legislation that benefits the rights of families - not the state, legislation that upholds the [...]
Paging Rep. Campfield
A Tennesse voter has a suggestion for some legislation that might be right up your alley:
Is it not time to mandate the carrying of concealed firearms by the clergy?

College for children of illegal immigrants- yay or nay?
Stacey Campfield is introducing legislation that would bar Tennessee’s institutions of higher learning from admitting the offspring of illegal immigrants - college-age students who cannot prove they are in the country legally:
“I don’t think they should be here in the first place,” said Rep. Stacey Campfield, the Knoxville Republican who is sponsoring the bill. “We [...]
The Rep. blames Al Gore’s Internets for late tax payment
The Crone isn’t buying Rep. Stacey Campfield’s excuse:
“I paid online, and it takes a few days for those to come up” in an electronic record check, said Campfield, a Republican.
Now, I pay the majority of my bills online, and each different company, including the state of TN, gives you the opportunity of printing out the [...]
Forget “A,B,C,D,F” grading; nowadays, it’s all about GLBT
Sean Braisted comments on Stacey Campfield’s no-gay-teaching-in-schools legislation:
I know in my school district they were always trying to get us to be gay, it was actually worth a quarter of our grade in Sexual Orientation class…the grading scale was pretty simple.
A) Home Run
B) Third Base
C) Second Base
D) First Place
F) Struck out

Terry Frank says more people should have supported Stacey Campfield’s failed legislation to prevent teachers from mentioning that gay people exist:
For the record, Democrats don’t seem to mind if the issues are raised to your kindergartner, despite the fact that we have graduates of Tennessee schools that can’t even read. They argue Campfield is just [...]
“Lamar, Lamar, Lamar…”
As the person who invited both Terry and Gray to appear on Inside Tennessee this week, I can tell you that for the sake of better ratings (a bloody fracas always means better ratings, don’t you know), I could only hope that Stacey Campfield’s entertaining pre-broadcast description of how the show went off was [...]

Ken Whitehouse at The Nashville Post talks about Campfield in his latest Monthly Political Futures Index:
…his antics in the legislature are becoming difficult for many of his own colleagues to stomach. The Republican is a “bomb thrower” in the legislature: He introduces legislation that has no hope of passage but raises awareness of social or [...]
Campfield fears tolerance itself?
From KNS columnist Leslie Snow:
I asked him about the mystery woman last week when I was a guest on Lloyd Daugherty’s radio show, “The Voice.” When he told the heart-wrenching story of the kindergartner whose well-being was threatened by lessons in homosexuality, I asked a simple question, “How do you know the story is true?”
And, [...]
Campfield throws it against the wall to see what sticks
From Left of Dial:
Glad to see Rep. Stacey Campfield’s proposed bill to ban discussion of homosexuality in public elementary and middle schools in Tennessee died a quick death in House subcommittee in Nashville yesterday. Maybe his throw–it–against–the–wall–and–see–what–sticks style of politics will play with a few ultra–conservatives but thankfully his colleagues and constituents basically told him [...]
Kids are gonna talk about it
Rob Robinson opines on Rep. Campfield’s proposed bill banning mention of homosexuality in schools:
I was in third grade at a conservative Christian school in 1983 when I first learned that “gay” did not merely mean happy. I discovered that when one of my classmates got in trouble for calling someone gay, and I didn’t understand [...]

It looks like Stacey Campfield has a primary challenger:
Ron Leadbetter, associate general counsel at the University of Tennessee, has picked up a petition to run against fellow Republican Rep. Stacey Campfield for the state House’s 18th District seat in the Aug. 7 state primary.
“I’m thinking strongly in that direction. I will be making a decision [...]
